Exquisite Wedgwood Black Basalt Chess Pieces of a king and queen. Designed by Arnold Machin and impressed AM to the underside.

Arnold Machin 1911-1999 was a British sculptor, coin and stamp designer.

Black Basalt is a hard black vitreous stoneware, named after the volcanic rock basalt, manufactured by Josiah Wedgwood from about 1768.


Very good condition.

The white marks are just light on the chess pieces.
